Glass Beach

Glass Beach 7

Glass Beach is a beach  near California created from years of dumping garbage into an area of coastline. Various cleanup programs were undertaken through the years to correct the damage. Over the next several decades the pounding waves cleaned the beach, by breaking down everything but glass and pottery and tumbling those into the small, smooth, colored pieces that cover Glass Beach. Now, the beach is visited by so many tourists, but it is not allowed to collect the sea glass, although it can be found on other beaches outside the park.

Take a look! Amazing, isn’t it?

I’ve always been fascinated by ‘sea glass’ and to see a whole beach full of it is incredible – very beautiful indeed :-)

Wow…that is special! I love sea glass so that would be quite a test for me not to take a piece or two!

Very interesting place. Funny how once someone realizes that trash can look good, you’re not even allowed to pick it up any more… ;)

That’s actually really beautiful. I always liked to go to a particular beach near Sunderland to collect sea glass when I lived in that area; it lay below an old abandoned glass factory. This is on a different scale!
